Taylor Lyons Episode

In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Taylor Lyons. Taylor told herself three years ago, she wanted to feed all those who are less fortunate in Toronto. Around Christmas time last year, she was prepping for their second annual event and had raised $700 with 7 amazing volunteers. This past Christmas, they reached $6000 in donations and over 50 volunteers. The staple they made in their community became something much bigger than they had ever expected and encouraged them to work towards becoming their very own charity.  In this episode we discuss giving back Canada, paying it forward, authenticity and transparency, fundraising work, raising awareness, support and challenges and lessons learned.

Three years ago, I told myself I wanted to feed all those who are less fortunate in Toronto. Around Christmas time last year, I was prepping for our second annual event and had raised $700 with 7 amazing volunteers. This past Christmas, we reached $6000 in donations and over 50 volunteers. The staple we made in our community became something much bigger than we ever expected and encouraged us to work towards becoming our very own charity. 

As life has taken an unexpected turn, my team and I knew that we wanted to do our part in the community and help out those in need. We've decided to partner with The Good Neighbour Project, located in the GTA who are working to deliver food and groceries to those in desperate need. These include emergency cases, as well as at-risk families and seniors without an income, transportation or a support system. As they are inundated with requests, I've decided to take on all their emergency cases. In just a short ten days, we managed to raise $16,000 to deliver free groceries to those in dire need. In such critical times, it goes to show that we are still all in this together. 

I know this is just the beginning of who we are, and we will continue to do our best to make an impact in this world.
