Alixx Schottland Episode

In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Alixx Schottland. Alixx Schottland is the founder and president of OVER THE RAINBOW ENTERTAINMENT in New York City. OTR selectively nurtures, develops and produces projects that have a socially-minded "call to action" message, making community engagement and social reciprocity an integral part of the production experience. Inspired by her volunteer work and fundraising effort at The Door, a drop in center for homeless and at risk youth as well as her role as a youth leader with the Downtown Hunger project, Alixx strives to bring entertainment that speaks to a diverse demographic to the stage and screen. In this episode we discuss acting, producing, volunteer work, fundraising, storytelling and passion.

Inspired by her volunteer work and fundraising effort at The Door, a drop in center for homeless and at risk youth as well as her role as a youth leader with the Downtown Hunger project, Alixx strives to bring entertainment that speaks to a diverse demographic to the stage and screen.

Alixx is a writer, producer and actor with over 20 years of experience in the independent film, fashion, television and theater world. She is an ardent believer in projects that feature strong, complex roles for women and minorities that focus on subjects closest to her heart, such as social issues and change, charity, music and fashion.

As an actor she has graced the NYC stage with recent starring roles in Katie, Hurly Burly and Burn This. She was also one of the executive producers and writers for the Off Broadway play Mommy in Manhattan. Alixx truly enjoys the community of filmmaking. Recent credits include Life of the Party, The Rebuild and the award winning film Showdown of the Godz.

She’s thrilled to be an executive producer and actor on the recently wrapped “art house” horror film, SLAPFACE.

Her current projects include Love Music Shelter, a feature film about a homeless teen, and her mother as they struggle to navigate the city streets, shelter system and their dreams - inspired by real events and $tars from the $treets, a reality series (documentary style competition series) born out of her research on homeless youth and street performers for Love Music Shelter. Chango, based on a true story written by two ex-convicts about breaking the cycle of drugs and prison for at risk youth and the disillusionment of the American Dream, and An Evening with Donald Kempinski written and directed by the brilliant disabled writer and director Tim Murray about a blind man getting lost in Brooklyn which leads him down a path that will change his life forever.

Alixx currently lives and works in New York City's TriBeCa neighborhood with her husband and two teenage sons. She credits her sons both with helping her stay on top of relevant music and fashion and with helping her become aware of and engaged in social issues relevant to today's youth.
